Atlanta

Atlanta is the capital and most populous city in Georgia, with a population of over five million in the metropolitan area. The city is the second largest metro area in the southeast, after Miami and the ninth largest in the country.

Atlanta chose not to retain the historic old south architectural characteristics like New Orleans, and is viewed as the leading city of a progressive “new south.” The metro area is one of the country’s fastest growing areas and the suburbs continue to expand. The culture of Atlanta is no longer strictly Southern. Underground Atlanta is a historic shopping and entertainment complex under the streets of downtown. The city also has the largest indoor aquarium in the world. The city hosted the 1998 Summer Olympic Games. The Braves, Falcons, and Hawks call Atlanta home.

Atlanta has a lower crime rate than Salt Lake City, Orlando, and Tacoma. So buyers should feel safe when buying a luxury home in the Atlanta real estate market. Virginia Highland became the first carbon-neutral zone in the United States.  The EDA commended Atlanta for its eco-friendly policies.

There are thirty institutions for high learning in Atlanta including Georgia State University.
